When we decided to depart Hilton Pond Center for Piedmont Natural History in York SC and move to the Blue Ridge Mountains, we spent quite a bit of time searching for just the right property—almost a decade, believe it or not. We challenged our realtor-now-friend Scott Cronk of Jefferson NC with a hard-and-fast list of what we sought: A livable, comfortable, energy-efficient dwelling; at least ten acres of wooded property; a scenic view; a stand of native rhododendrons; an affordable price; and—of course—some sort of water feature, either stream or pond (preferably the latter).

Scott rose to the challenge and came up with just the right place with all those attributes; after exploring the home and land with him we immediately made a reasonable offer that was accepted. Almost 12 months later, here we are at what we call Hilton Pond North: Blue Ridge Birds & Nature.
