RESEARCH at HILTON POND NORTH

Year 1—2024

At our previous study site at Hilton Pond Center for Piedmont Natural History in South Carolina we began studying Ruby-throated Hummingbirds in July 1984 and concluded that work in Fall 2023; each banding season ran late March through mid-October. In all, we banded 7,511 RTHU, with an all-time annual high of 373 in 2016. Numbers gradually increased over time, but the average for our final decade at York SC was 267 per year.
